Dystopia Of Truth brings old-school prog metal back to Life

Life is a mammoth progressive metal record comprised of two 17-minute “acts”. It sounds very traditional in that you will find all the requisite elements of prog metal — odd rhythms, synth pads, complex guitar & bass interplays, and some wonderfully inspired clean singing.

However, this very competent record was created by one man doing everything by himself — all the instruments, vocals, composition and production. It’s an admirable achievement that we are most impressed by.

Not unlike other records in the genre, such as Dream Theater’s Train of Thought, Life is a concept record with a complex narrative intricately interwoven in the compositions’ fabric. Overall, Life is a strong piece of art which represents an entire musical journey.

It may take a bit of patience to listen through two 17-minute songs, but we are sure avid prog metal fans will appreciate.
