NOMUZIK Porte-voix is yes-music for computer maniacs and rainy days
Christophe Sans is a funny guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously, as one can tell from his colorful, googly-eyed artwork. But his music isn’t in any way clownish — to the contrary, it’s rather dark and melancholic, though in an extremely subtle way.
There aren’t any roaring synths or thundering percussions to listen — rather, everything sounds subdued, filtered, and as out from your face as possible. It’s Christophe’s style, and the slightly anhedonic mood he’s trying to convey is fitting for his title of “computer musician”.
The man is singing in French, although he sometimes sings also in English exclusively – as Christophe stated by himself : ) – and there’s a fair bit of catchiness to his vocals, which are a source of restrained optimism in his rather unhappy tunes.
If you enjoy computer music with all its blips-and-blops minimalism, you are going to like Christophe’s style. NOMUZIK Porte-voix is a perfect listen on a gloomy day.
