Italian electronic duo Habaneko certainly knows how to make catchy, emotional music. Their talent shines in a 4-song EP titled ‘Boundaries’,— tightly packed with dance-able rhythms, rich synth & sound design work, and vocals that could melt your heart… as cheesy as that may sound.

It’s easy to compare Habaneko with electronica overlords like Depeche Mode and Covenant, but the similarities are very surface-level. The Italians sound fresh and inspired, not lacking in either style or substance. Linee Contorte sets the right mood with a quick tempo and dynamic synths before, two songs in, Lacrime transitions into a somber mood. Habaneko certainly know how to utilize texture and feel to make their music come alive.

Overall, Boundaries is an extremely pleasant record that’s full of musical potential. No matter what’s your preferred genre, you should definitely have a listen. We are waiting for a longer release from the Italians, or at least a couple more EPs to satisfy the craving brought by these 4 songs.
