Dream music with Max Rodriguez

You know that feeling when you’re doing something you know is really cool but you’re still happy as hell when the universe just sends you a confirmation in the form of a sign? Or in the form of a great, passionate musician you get to talk to? This must sound confusing so let me explain. Not long ago, we announced Karma points on Drooble. One of the ways you can use them to promote your music is getting an interview with yourself published on our blog. Like every new venture we undertake, it seemed like a great idea and thanks to Max Rodriguez now we know it really was.

Max was literally the first human being to ever take advantage of this feature and we’re extremely happy it’s him because he perfectly represents the reason we created Drooble in the first place. Max is a musician, whose music is inspired and meaningful. The only thing he was missing was a way to show it to the world without having to spend a bag of money on paid promotion. Well, thanks to posting his stuff on Drooble, he got the attention of the community (because he’s awesome) and gathered enough Karma points to have this interview published. On a side note, this could have been a happy coincidence if it had happened only once. However, the first person to ever use the Artist of the Day feature was Heiner Garcia who also turned out to be a very talented musician that managed to earn and use his points just right. If you don’t quite get how this works, read this. Anyways, the point is’, Karma points apparently work like a charm. But let’s get back to our man of the hour – Max. He’s great and we’re so happy to have him 🙂

Hey Max! Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do on Drooble.

Max Rodriguez 5
Hi! I am a songwriter and musician from Buenos Aires. I am looking to share my music and get feedback, and maybe also meet some talented people from all over the world to collaborate with.
I have acoustic and electronic influences and I usually compose with my guitar and voice and then switch to keyboards and PC. I like dreamy pop, indie, folk, and any style, really, as long as the music is beautiful, simple and inspires good stuff.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is my way of releasing bad stuff through creativity. It makes me feel better and connected with everyone else. I like the world to hear what’s inside my head.

What is your music dream?

I simply want to find my sound and create beautiful songs. Each song I do and enjoy makes me feel a bit better.

If you could change the world – what would you start with?

Probably splitting all the money in the world evenly and giving it to those who really need it.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Songs by The Cranberries, Björk, No Doubt, 4 Non Blondes, etc. 90’s boy.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

So many… My favorite band is Nightwish (symphonic metal), but I am into a lot of stuff, not just metal.

What inspires you to make music?

My life, my musical idols, the books I like, the things I’ve lived, the things I live for, the bad moments, the good moments, the places I miss, the places I love, the places I hate. So much.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

No message. Just how much I enjoy doing it.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Nervous!

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I think a lot in pop is related to image and visuals. I work with visuals and so I love them, but I think music should become more based on the music itself and not so much on the looks or prescence on social media.

What do you think of Drooble?

It looks like an amazing platform for musician networking. It’s a great idea, definitely of great help to us poor musicians, hahaha 🙂 It has a lot of potential and I hope it becomes bigger!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

As long as I remain calm when I don’t have any ideas and I just accept that it’s a thing of the moment, I don’t feel frustrated. I would like to get some bandmates to play live though and that’s hard to get!

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

There’s amazing music in Buenos Aires and Argentina but I am not a fan of any of them, I simply enjoy listening to some of them every once in a while.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get his music heard by a larger audience?

Purely authentic music. Nothing pretended, nothing thought out by a marketing team. That’s the way it should be.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Darkside, Pablo Neptuno, Bombay Bicycle Club.
