5 ways to get in touch with your favorite artists

Although it still takes work and patience, approaching your favorite musicians for advice and contact has never been easier. Drooble users have been discussing ways to make this happen effectively and came up with 5 good tips to help you get started.

These are all about taking advantage of whatever contact mediums are available to you – mainly social media, physical letters or phone numbers, and networking. So there are plenty of things to try before you run out of ideas!

Regardless of what you go for, keep in mind that good communication is essential. Be original, interesting, engaging – not just another semi-obsessed fan – and you stand a chance at getting your favorite music people’s attention!

1. Try Twitter

Our own Boyan Simeonov tuned in by saying most famous artists’ social media profiles are ran by management agencies and PR companies, yet they often handle their Twitter accounts themselves. So aim the right tweet at the right person and you might continue towards relations, collaboration, chatting, or whatever it is you want.

Of course, crafting the right Twitter message for your favorite artist is a bit of an art form in itself. Resident Droobler Mack Dacre argues tweets should be “engaging, not worshipping, and something they’ll want to reply to.” So leave your obsession with a musical someone for those fan letters they never open, and think of something clever to say to get them talking on Twitter!

2. Try Instagram

Jan Munoz suggests Instagram as another meeting point between fans and artists. Many musicians enjoy sharing photos and artwork on Instagram by themselves, whether it’s their own work or that of devoted fans. Again, go for direct messages, or even better – catch their attention with something uniquely cool, and you get a chance at being noticed!

3. Try networking

Mack Dacre thinks good old networking is where it’s at, and even in the digital era, he’s absolutely right. If you happen to know some cool people who know other people who know your favorite artist personally, you have a way in. You can even try pulling that off on LinkedIn, though that’s more of a place for music industry professionals, rather than musicians.

Still, if you’re after a particular manager or producer and they are on it, LinkedIn is a perfectly viable means of networking ’till you get to them. Simply ask a mutual contact for an introduction, and if all is fine, doors will open.

4. Try official contact

Tina Z prefers official contact, and she has a point! If your favorite artists have left any e-mails, phone numbers, or P.O. boxes for contact on their website or social media profile, that’s your chance to get in touch. Proceed as usual – craft an interesting message or proposal, send it over, and hope for the best!

5. Try other social media

If any of the other ways don’t cut it, feel free to gun for Facebook, SoundCloud, MySpace, musicians’ official or fan forums, and other online places where your people of interest gather. When you are there, getting a chance at standing out in the crowd is difficult, but not impossible. Drooble user Andrew Shnitka has been lucky, and you could be, too!

Wish I could talk to kane brown. Been broken a few times. His songs always keep me hoping that one day I will find a love that will appreciate the strong love I have. Alone really sucks.
