The Story Of The Heavy, Yet Lively And Melodic Czech Temper

Alright Temper, let’s get a brief introduction of the band! We know there’s quite a bit of history to it, given that it was formed in the ashes of two other bands…

Yea, kind of… Temper was built on the ruins of Broumov bands Hellmania and Shades Of Mystic in the summer of 2015, when Mike Jr. filling in as guitarist at a last Hellmanias concert. A week after this concert renegades (BV and Jíťa) from Hellmania and Mike Jr. started to create new music. Shortly after that Mesha (bass) joined us, the chemistry was good so here we are. But we had and still have problems with drummers.

Unlike many female-fronted metal bands, you don’t sound gentle in the slightest! What’s the secret to keeping your music fast & heavy, yet lively and melodic?

We are making each song from many perspectives. First – we donť want to get bored behind the instruments and every single practice of our individual songs are something like technically leveling up. Second – we donť want to sound confused, or chaotic. So hard, heavy BUT melodic is priority.

Your songs give away a massive love for metal in almost all its forms. What are your favorite, most inspiring bands and albums?

That’s a difficult question. Each of us have some favorite albums, bands, genres, and each of us giving into it something from himself, but the band we are all of us into is Trivium. That’s the point that we don’t think we sound like another thousand bands and we are not making cliche.

We know Czechia has quite the extreme music scene, not to mention a certain Mr. Paul Speckmann (Master!!!) happily living and recording in the country for so long! Do you feel welcomed by metalheads and fitting in the scene?

You know… It’s not only in the Czech Republic, but peoples not coming to gigs of unknown bands, or just few are coming to hear and watch. The music scene is quiet large, but peoples are not willing paying tickets, or spending time on small bands. But every gig we play, we feel pretty good. Did you know, that Czech Republic have one of the best metal crowd in the world (for big bands of course)?

You have a really cool EP that was released this year – Break The Rule. Where did you record those three songs, they sound massive!

Would you believe me, that it’s recorded in cheap home studio? Just vocals was taking in Broumov monastery which has very good recording studio. These materials we sent to Jarek Musil (producer from Brno) and he did the magic – Mix, Master, Co-production. It was pretty close cooperation. But looking into future, we want to be independent and do it ourselves.

Polish metal bands have had their big break, thanks to Vader & Behemoth’s hard work touring and supporting their records. Why don’t we still have a world-famous Czech band? What’s stopping local bands from upper metal echelon stardom?

Vader and Behemoth did a lot of work for whole east metal scene, not just Polish. We have also good bands – legendary Masters Hammer, or Root, but it’s quiet extreme scene. It’s complicated, the bands which have the potential, OR is on world scene, then they are not supported by home music scene and its fans. For now, we’re seeking some kind of hope… Czech musicians are in the big worlds band like – Mr. Škaroupka (Cradle of Filth, Masterplan), Serpenth (Belphegor) and on the other side, the world famous musicians are joining czech bands – Grapow, Terrana (Kreyson), Mr. Speckmann as you mention above (Krabathor) and others.

Are you going to record a full album eventually? What direction are you considering?

Yes, we are. We are deciding in which studio and with which one producer we’re going to cooperate. But yes, we are going to record full album, and you know what? We are recording right now some guitar parts 😉 And the direction… We want to be more melodic, more heavier, more technical and more harder, BUT in the same way as we did till today.

What’s the most memorable live show you ever played?

Each show is for us fenomenal feeling and memories. For our unlucky with our problems with drummers, we didn’t played much shows. In the beginning we played without the human drummer, we used programmed drums from PC, funny right? But if you want to know which one is our presentation – check the videoclip Rising Up!

How has being on Drooble helped you as musicians?

Hey… It’s clever. We get the feedback from other musicians, we extend our reach for new fans and listeners. It’s very good. Like one big happy musician family 🙂
