There are literally thousands of lists of the so called “THE” weirdest music videos, usually “of all time”. This is not going to be such a list because we don’t believe in “THE”. There is certainly not one single video that would make anyone doubt their sanity. And thanks to our favorite subjectivity anything can be more or less weird than anything else. How weird something is depends on where you yourself are on the weird scale. And that can be anywhere between “I can’t use public restrooms” and “I can only use public restrooms”.

Here’s what we’re going to do: we’ll list and briefly describe some pretty messed up music videos and not label any one of them “weirder” than the rest. Also, when we say “music videos” we don’t mean just any video with music in it. A music video is a video especially and officially created for a specific piece of music that it’s supposed to go with.  This means your favorite AMVs won’t make the list. Now, enough talk, you’re obviously here for the crazy.

The Avalanches – Frontier Psychiatrist

If we want to mention everything that shows up in this video, we’ll have to write a book. The man in a monkey costume chasing the man in a bird costume while the ghosts and the black cowboys are singing is our favorite part.

David Hasselhoff – Hooked on a Feeling

This is just too much. We have absolutely no idea what’s going on in this video but we’re pretty sure no one ever did. AND it’s David Hasselhoff, so you know it’s gonna be totally awesome.

Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart

You know this one. It deserves a place here for sure. Demon-possessed choirboys, awkward swim team, ninjas – what more do you need?

Flying Lotus – Parisian Goldfish

Holy mother of Christ. At the beginning you just feel weirded out, then it gets completely NSFW and near the end you’re inevitably dwelling upon the mysteries of the universe.

Bjork – Hunter

Of course, a Bjork video. Otherwise this list of weird videos wouldn’t be much of a list of weird videos. It’s the one where she’s bald and occasionally transforming into a godly cyber-lion. We love Bjork, she’s mental.

Die Antwoord – I Fink U Freeky

Because we just had to include a Die Antwoord video. We’re very much used to them by now but it doesn’t change the fact that these guys are a whole separate level of mad.

Tool – Sober

Sometimes weird means creepy. Tool have always done a good job on the creepy front and this there’s-something-colossal-and-disgusting-living-in-the-pipes-of-the-brainman video proves it.

DJ Snake, Lil Jon – Turn Down for What

If there was ever a reason for anyone to be terrified of dancing, this video is it. It’s creative, gross and funny at the same time.

Hodgy, Domo Genesis And Tyler, The Creator- Rella

A beautiful modern jewel of weirdness and confusion, combining psychiatric lyrics with shroom-inspired visuals into one haunting multimedia miracle. It’s pure magic.
