Not much information is available online for Miami-based musician Poems, Everybody! so, let’s dive straight into their music. It’s so hard for us to believe such dark and brooding sound can come from a sunny heaven like Miami but we are always up for a good surprise. Poems, Everybody! can be described as a hybrid between post-punk and cold wave. Melancholic melodies in guitars and synths, nervous drum patterns and hypnotic basses are the backbone of their music. It’s emotional, dark and sterile a bit. Just like it should be.

The only issue we have with “Seismic Shift” is the vocals. Yes, being slightly off-tune and drenched in reverb is usually the norm of the style but there are tracks (‘Once’, ‘The Fix’) where the singing really needs more work. Especially since the music underneath is so good. This being said, Poems, Everybody! is without a doubt a project with lots of potential and with just a bit more focus in getting the singing right we are sure it will be on the right track.
