Meet Hoverlay – The Augmented Reality Platform

Today we present to you a really awesome and useful new app called Hoverlay. We will publish an interview with its creators in a few weeks, but for now you can find and follow them on Drooble.

We have all heard of virtual reality, and the trend is getting bigger and bigger with more applications emerging every year. But have you heard of augmented reality? It’s a concept that stands between virtual reality and well… reality.

To explain in a simple way – it’s putting digital content in the context of your physical space. It’s yet to become as trendy as virtual reality, but examples like Pokemon GO can show us the huge potential behind it. Although for now it’s the main one, video games are not the only kind of content where augmented reality is being heavily used. Bright minds from all around the globe are currently working on new and exciting ways to let us digitally enhance our surroundings.

Meet Hoverlay!

Hoverlay is a brand new app that lets you do exactly that – add digital content to the physical space around you, let others see it and interact with it through their devices. The best thing is that you don’t need any coding knowledge to do that. Instead you just follow a few quick and easy steps.

For example, you can make your own hologram using green screen video. How cool is that? You can also use Hoverlay to create and place virtual buttons and objects (called hobjects). You can attach links to them, so they bring people to your website, social media or wherever on the web. You can make a full screen video which will pop up and play inside the augmented reality. These are just a few awesome examples, but we are sure there will be many more in the future.

How is this useful for a musician?

Imagine placing buttons with all of your social media profiles at the venue you are playing tonight! Imagine sending fans to Spotify at your merch table, so they can sample your new album before buying a t-shirt or a record. Imagine being able to drop a link to your crowdfunding site or an online store, utilizing the moment when your audience is emotionally engaged. Imagine a hologram of your frontman greeting the fans at the door before your gig. Make an augmented reality performance video! It sounds like living in the future, right? Yeah, but it’s already possible!

Hoverlay expects of you to invent new ways of presenting yourself and your art to the world, so use your imagination and be creative with the tool. It’s a whole new reality to explore!
