We’ve already presented Greek electronic music composer Sakis Gouzonis ‘on the pages’ of Drooble. With eleven full-length albums behind his back, several awards, live shows and most importantly enviable dedication and discipline he’s one of the most prolific artists you’ll meet on the platform. Having created a strong bond with electronic music and synthesizers since a young age, Gouzonis has evolved in an ever-active and dedicated composer and performer. Hello! Tell the world about yourself. How did you grow up to become the musician you are today?

Hello! First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to promote my music through your blog. My name is Sakis Gouzonis, and I come from Greece. I am a composer, orchestrator, producer and performer of instrumental electronic music. To this day, I have released eleven studio albums, all of which are available through my official website, www.sakisgouzonis.com. Music is the best way to express myself and communicate with the world. I just can’t imagine my life without it.

When I was about twelve years old, I asked my parents to buy me an electronic keyboard. When I put my hands on my keyboard for the very first time, I felt a strange power all over my body. I instantly understood that music was my gift. I can still remember myself sitting at my parents’ home in Elassona, Greece, spending countless hours every day playing music. I had the innate ability to play music by ear. I didn’t feel the need for attending a music school. In 2002, I bought my first professional music workstation and all the necessary equipment in order to build my home studio. I started my music career in 2008 with the release of my first studio album “First Contact”.

Introduce your current musical projects and tell us what makes each one special for you!

I recently released my eleventh studio album “Open Horizon”, which contains ten brand new tracks of instrumental electronic music. While there are many pessimistic scenarios and forecasts, I am very optimistic about humanity’s future. In our days, science is really outpacing itself. I believe that space science will soon make a great leap forward, and we will have operating human colonies in many parts of our solar system. I also believe that medical science will soon advance so much that the human lifespan will be increased a lot, and the quality of our lives will be radically improved. You have been playing music for a long while! How do you find the drive and inspiration to keep going all this time?

My inspiration comes directly from the great mysteries of our beautiful universe. Our beautiful universe inspires me a lot, creating in my heart many positive feelings, such, s love, peace, harmony, hope, joy and respect. I like making and playing new music, because I am able to bring something to the world that makes me and my listeners very happy. I really enjoy the smiles on my listeners’ faces when I release a new music album or perform live. Spreading happiness to people of all nations and cultures is something that I really enjoy doing.

How is your local music scene in your perspective? Do you feel like you belong there?

The local music scene is very diverse and full of hidden treasures. Both unknown and famous talented artists from all music genres play music here, and people of all ages and backgrounds come to the live shows to support the local music scene. When a city or country has a supportive musical environment, the artists have a chance to grow and expand. This is great both for the artists and the listeners who have a wide variety of music to choose from. Fortunately, electronic music is part of the local music scene.

What is your all-time favorite record and how did it change you as an artist?

“Super Synthesizer” performed by the Gino Marinello synthesizer section is definitely one of my all-time favorite records. It’s a collection of many beautiful electronic music tracks composed by famous music composers. It features “Oxygene” by Jean-Michel Jarre, “Chariots Of Fire” by Vangelis,” Axel F” by Harold Faltermeyer, “Popcorn” by Gershon Kingsley, and many other amazing electronic pieces. When I first listened to the music of these composers my life took a completely new direction.

What are your favorite software and hardware tools for music production?

I use the Korg Triton Studio music workstation to produce new music. Lightning-fast CPU, hyper integrated synthesis system, TouchView graphical user interface, 1,536 program locations of user-writable memory, and versatile sequencing with extensive editing capabilities are only some of its great characteristics. For studio monitors, I use the Sennheiser HD 600 headphones, which are engineered for the true audiophile. For live shows, I use the Yamaha MG 16/6 FX mixing console along with the Mackie SRM450 portable powered loudspeakers, whose professional sound quality and indestructible portability have made them a live sound legend.

What is your songwriting process like?

The initial idea for a music composition comes in a moment of inspiration. My inspiration comes from the universe. My inspiration comes from a bright sun on a beautiful morning. My inspiration comes from a green tree or a singing bird. And when inspiration hits me, I work as hard as I can to write quality music. I write the melody and the chords at the same time, because I believe that this is the most effective way to write beautiful music. As you already know, my music is instrumental, which means it has no lyrics.

Out of all the live shows you played, which one was the most memorable, and why?

One of the most memorable live shows was the second Meeting of Music & Poetry, which was held in Volos, Greece. It was attended by hundreds of music industry professionals, artists and listeners. During the Meeting, I performed “Elohim”, the third track of my second studio album “New Earth”. The energy on stage was really electric. The applause from the audience filled me with breathtaking excitement. I had a strong sense of accomplishment. At the end of the Meeting, I received a lot of positive feedback regarding my music and live performance. It was a magical night that I will always remember.

What is your biggest musical goal?

One of my biggest musical goals is to make my music known to as many people as possible. So far, I have written 110 original compositions, all of which are available on my official website. But I would also like to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, because it is a cultural event that unites people from many different countries and cultures, and gives the artists the opportunity to make our music known to a wider audience.

How has being on Drooble helped you as a musician?

Drooble has given me the opportunity to share my music with a worldwide audience. It reminds me of the classic MySpace, which helped many artists to become famous during the previous decade. I think Drooble is doing what MySpace was doing during the previous decade, but in a much more modern and innovative way. And if I remember well, it will be redesigned soon, so I can’t wait to see what it will look like in the very near future.
