Tell us something about yourself, what’s your musical background?

I’ve always been inexplicably attracted to making art and cool sounds and was never that good at sports or making friends. Love any music with a frenetic spirit that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Why did you start making music in the first place? Tell us something more about Coast Modern – how is it going, what’s the crowd’s response? What is your personal motivation to do what you do?

We both started making music just for ourselves, so to see the reaction from really nice folks all around the world is a huge added bonus. The music is obviously very important, but we see it almost as a conduit for connecting like-minded people. You’re not alone.

What do you think of Drooble? Do you think musicians can unite and help each other online?

There’s a surprising lack of places for musicians to connect in this modern age, so Drooble seems like a very welcome home.

What would you tell every young person, who’s just starting out his/her career in music? How did you get initial support?

I think one of the best things to do is just to make a lot of music and not worry if it’s good or bad. You have to get it all out. Learn other people’s songs and take little nuggets of them for your own stuff. It takes a long time, so make sure to celebrate the tiny stepping stone victories.

What challenges are you facing as a musician? What do you think about the music industry’s condition nowadays?

We’ve been lucky enough to connect with some very smart and talented people working within the industry, so I don’t think it’s all bad. It’s a time to find creative solutions to problems, which can be exciting.

Can you tell us a bit more on what can we expect from you guys in the near or not so near future? I see that you have a tour planned, can you share something about it?

Right now we’re deep in the lab cooking up more songs which should be out soon! There will be an album too. We’re planning to visit a bunch of new cities this year and spread some good vibes.

What gets you inspired and what do you listen to?

I love trying to extract the spirit of certain artists and eras, not necessarily the musical qualities. The Beatles are still huge for me. I look up to Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Prince. Been listening to Kendrick Lamar, LA Priest, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and the radio.
